ARSC Experience

Experiences worth your time

Explore the ARSC formats and choose the experience that fits your goals. Below: what happens at each one and what you take away afterwards.

Four concrete things

What you take away from an ARSC event

Each benefit, with an example from a past edition.

  1. Understand what lies ahead

Discuss the priorities, funding and changes that affect public administration, companies and communities.

Example: at the urban mobility conference in September 2024, the shared-space model was discussed together with TPBI, STB and Metrorex.

  2. Learn from real experience

Discover how other organisations have approached similar challenges and what you can apply in your own work.

Example: the shared-space model was debated in Bucharest with representatives of organisations involved in mobility projects: TPBI, STB, Metrorex, the Railway Reform Authority and the Order of Architects.

  3. Meet the right people

Talk with professionals from public administration, companies and organisations working on topics close to yours.

Example: the ARSC HUB series had four editions in 2025, none with formal presentations. The stated aim of the first edition was to agree common directions for that year.

  4. Identify the next step

Clarify an idea, explore a solution or open a conversation that can continue after the event.

Example: the programme of the Women Founders in Urban Mobility conference included a Collaboration Café, a session of two-minute pitches, speed networking and team formation.

Formats

How you take part in each format

  • Congresses and forums

You listen to panels and data presentations, ask questions from the floor and continue the discussion with guests and other participants during the breaks. The programme is published on the event page, by time slot.

Events: ROPAT, Congresul Primarilor, Green Energy Summit, Smart Communities Forum, Iași Urban Mobility Summit, Forumul Orașelor Verzi (Green Cities Forum).

  • Regional roadshows

You go to the stop in your region. The agenda is built with the regional development agency, so the discussion is about funding and projects in that area.

The 2025 series of Caravana Smart City, ARSC's roadshow across Romanian cities, had five stops. See the programme and materials from Bucharest, Brașov, Brăila, Iași and Craiova.

  • Industry evenings

You talk directly with other participants and find shared interests for future collaboration. Access is usually by invitation.

The format varies from one edition to the next: the 2025 ARSC HUB series was built around conversation, while ARSC Networking Hub #1 in 2024 also had an expert panel. Other events: Leaders Meeting, Shaping the Future of Technology.

  • Round tables and briefings

A small group, a single topic, time for everyone to speak. Here you analyse a problem and identify the steps needed to solve it.

Events: Women Founders in Urban Mobility, the World Cities Day press briefing, the Israel - Romania webinar.

  • Demonstrations and visits

Sometimes the programme leaves the room: a vehicle, a piece of equipment or a project is seen on site, with the people who operate it alongside.

At Iași Urban Mobility Summit 2026, participants went out into the street for a demonstration with a public transport vehicle. At Europe Summit 2024, the programme included demonstrations in the hall.

  • Galas and recognition

An evening when projects, institutions and teams receive awards. It shows what was actually built over the past year, and who built it.

Smart City Industry Awards: the 11th edition on 24 March 2027, at Romexpo.

The programme, facilities and activities vary from one edition to another and are set out on each event's page.

For everyone

What everyone at the table is looking for

Public administration

Which funding sources are available, what other city halls have done with the same problem, and who they can talk to directly.

Companies and suppliers

What beneficiaries need and what stage their projects are at, so you know who your solution is for.

Operators and public services

How decisions on fleets, infrastructure and fares connect with national policy and European funding.

Experts and academia

A place where research reaches the people who can apply it, and where research topics come from real projects.

The journey

Before, during and after

What we prepare together beforehand, what happens in the room and what stays published afterwards.

  1. Before

The event page brings together the date, venue, programme, confirmed speakers and how to attend. Where there is registration, the form is there too.

  2. During

You attend the sessions in the programme, ask questions and talk with other participants during the breaks. At industry evenings, the conversations are the whole event.

  3. After

After the event, the edition page gathers the photos, materials and press articles.
